The Role Of Stem Cell Therapy In Patients With COVID-19

Last Week GIOSTAR had the Opportunity To Participate In the 5th Specialized Course In Regenerative Medicine And Cell Therapy, to Discuss The Role Of Stem Cell Therapy In Patients With COVID-19.

The online course was held on Saturday, March 27 and 28. The goal of the program was to cover and review the main therapeutic effects of Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), especially the immuno-modulatory properties, for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Throughout the pandemic, GIOSTAR has dedicated its efforts to research the effects of MSCs on the patient positive for COVID, spread awareness of how the therapy works through lectures and congresses and caring for patients recovered from COVID-19.

The speakers at the course included Dr. Anand Srivastava, president, and co-founder of the Global Stem Cell Therapy and Research Institute, as well as laboratory director M.C. Diana Gabriel Esquivel, who introduced the entire medical team of GIOSTAR in Los Algodones, Mexico.

The topics that were covered included the following:

  •          Immuno-modulatory properties of MSCs
  •          Valuable properties of MSCs
  •          Pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19
  •          Cell therapy in patients with COVID-19

The presentation showed how the therapy works and the four protective effects that MSCs have on a COVID-19 positive patient including Antibacterial, Immunomodulation, Anti-apoptosis, and Regeneration.

Being an online course was different from the other events in previous years but by no means less rewarding. We are pleased to be part of the community that promotes the practice of Regenerative Medicine.

Special thanks to the Mexican College of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, council, and leading college, for the opportunity to participate in this event.
